Emergency and Storm Tree Removal in Baton Rouge, LA

A tree on the roof or across the driveway after a thunderstorm or hurricane needs fast, careful work. Send your request with photos if you can and we'll get back to you as fast as we can.

Safety first

• If anyone is hurt or a tree is on a live power line, call 911 and your electric utility. Stay well away from downed lines and anything touching them
• If a tree has gone through the roof, leave the affected rooms and, if you smell gas, get out and call for help
• Do not try to cut a tree that is under tension or resting on a structure. Bent trunks and limbs can spring back when cut

After a hurricane

Hurricane season runs June 1 through November 30. After a big storm crosses the Baton Rouge area, demand for tree crews spikes. Requests are usually prioritized by danger: trees on occupied homes and blocking the only access first, then trees on fences, sheds and cars, then yard cleanup.

Insurance paperwork

Before work starts, take photos of the tree and the damage from several angles. Ask for an itemized invoice. Whether your homeowners policy pays for removal depends on your policy and on whether the tree hit a covered structure, so check with your insurer.

Prices for emergency work

HomeGuide notes same-day or next-day hazardous tree removal often costs 2 to 3 times the standard rate (HomeGuide, tree removal cost). Crane work, roof-lifts and night work add more. Get the price in writing before the crew starts whenever you safely can.

Questions about emergency & storm tree removal

Will you come out during the storm?

Crews generally wait until winds die down and lightning has passed. Working in high wind isn't safe. Submit your request as soon as you can so it's in the queue.

Does homeowners insurance pay for tree removal?

It depends on your policy. Coverage is more likely when a tree falls on a covered structure. Photograph everything and call your insurer.

Why does emergency removal cost more?

Same-day response, hazardous rigging, cranes and working around damaged structures take more time, crew and equipment. HomeGuide notes emergency work often runs 2 to 3 times standard rates.
